Things I'm Loving Today

 The pretty tulips that are making my house feel bright and springy

 

 and a fridge full of colorful eggs.

 

 

 

My sweet babies who insist on slumber parties in the playroom and then snuggle up to read with a flashlight.

 

 

The fact that this is where they have slept every single non-school night since Christmas break.

 

 

Makes a momma's heart happy!

Dinner

I've never been a big fan of cooking.  Food in general has never been my favorite thing.  Don't get me wrong, I love to eat.  It is just so much work.  How are you supposed to make sure that everything is ready at the same time??   And it costs so much money.  And then its gone.  What a waste! 

This is why I usually use my crock pot.  I spend one night and make a ton of things and then I don't have to worry about it for months.  Seriously.  I am just finishing up the dinners I made in August.  In the summer I use the crock pot too.  Who wants to be inside on a sunny day? Not this girl.   So I throw a bunch of things in the crock pot in the morning, play all day and eat at dinner time.  Simple!

Tonight, I decided to step out of my box and actually cook dinner.  And by dinner I mean scrambled eggs and waffles.  And by waffles I mean Eggos.  And by cook I mean toast.  You should have seen me.  Running around the kitchen like a maniac trying to make sure I didn't burn the waffles in the toaster while I scrambled the eggs and strategically sliced the week old strawberries so that no one would know.  Stressful!  People this is why I don't cook!

So guess what, family?  Tomorrow we're cooking in the crock pot!

Spring is Springing

Lucky Day

 

We're not Irish, but in our house, St. Patrick's Day is a major holiday.  And it is all because of that sneaky leprechaun.  This year we built a trap that we were sure would catch him for once and for all

 

 

 

 

We lured him in with food (you know, Lucky Charms)

 and the kids wrote him notes (one of the first signs that we have let this get completely out of hand...they make requests of the leprechaun like he is Santa) which they taped down low on their doors so he would be sure to see it.

 

 And they picked out their green clothes and laid them out for the morning.

 

 

This morning we woke up late because that naughty leprechaun had set their clocks back two hours and this is what we found...

 

We all hurried downstairs to see what he had left us.  The kids looked in the fridge and found their lunches packed ("This is the first time I haven't had to make my own lunch!!")

 

 

 And a rainbow breakfast.

 

 

 Luckily, we got ready for school in time for a St. Patty's Day photo shoot.  It went how all of our photo shoots go, completely ridiculous...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 But they were laughing and I was laughing and I can't help but look at this picture and think that today is my lucky day!
