Sunshine and Boating and Camping, Oh My!

This has been the best spring that I can remember!  So much sunshine.  And very few things make me happier than sun.  So I feel like I'm out of my winter funk  (believe me when I tell you that I hate being cold, which makes me grumpy from October until whenever Mother Nature decides to put me out of my misery) and so ready for summer.

Already this spring, we have had a sunny 75 degree Easter and a handful of days in the upper 70's and even into the upper 80's!!!!!  So what have we been doing?   I thought you'd never ask.

Last weekend we took the boat out for the first voyage of the year.  Usually, we wear sweats for this.  Not this time!

 We did some fishing

some sun tanning

and after some convincing (ahem, bribery) from dad there was even some swimming!!

Robbie promised ice cream cones to anyone who jumped off the boat and swam all the way around.  And of course, Ben asked "If we do it twice do we get two?"

It was a perfect day

and of course, we had to stop to get them their two  ice cream cones on the way home!!

This weekend, the weather wasn't quite as warm but it was still plenty nice so Robbie and Abby scheduled a long overdue father/daughter camping trip.  He took both kids to the campground during the day and I met up with them after work.  When I showed up at the beach, I could hear them before I could see them (I swear, I gave birth to the loudest two people on this planet) and was surprised to find all three of them swimming!

It was all fun and games until Abby looked down and saw a cut on her leg (that had been there for more than 10 minutes).
Ben was unfazed by his screaming sister and continued to play his new favorite game, seaweed ball.
 Abby eventually did recover

and they finally got cold enough that we headed back to the campsite for showers.

Once everyone was clean and dry it was time for dinner!

Then it was time for a little bit of family time around the campfire, complete with stories and s'mores!

At the end of the night, Ben and I headed home for  our own special time together (only to have to come back in the morning when Abby accidentally locked them out of the camper!)

The weekend was capped off with a wonderful Mother's Day.  It was laid back and relaxing and just what this momma wanted.  As you may know, Abby always gets a Mother's Day gift from her babies and this year she was very disappointed to come downstairs to nothing.  Shoot.  I totally forgot to put it out.  Robbie distracted her while I put every single one of her babies on her bed with her gift.

And when I sent her upstairs to get dressed, she couldn't have been more surprised.  And she had no clue how her babies all got there.  It's pretty much all she talked about all day.  (That and the fact that her babies can't spell happy).   Phew!  That was a close one!

And like any good momma, she snuggled up to sleep with all of them.

I love the sunshine, I love my family, and I am so so ready for summer!  21 days left of school, but who's counting?
