Lucky Day

We're not Irish, but in our house, St. Patrick's Day is a major holiday.  And it is all because of that sneaky leprechaun.  This year we built a trap that we were sure would catch him for once and for all

We lured him in with food (you know, Lucky Charms)
and the kids wrote him notes (one of the first signs that we have let this get completely out of hand...they make requests of the leprechaun like he is Santa) which they taped down low on their doors so he would be sure to see it.

And they picked out their green clothes and laid them out for the morning.

This morning we woke up late because that naughty leprechaun had set their clocks back two hours and this is what we found...

We all hurried downstairs to see what he had left us.  The kids looked in the fridge and found their lunches packed ("This is the first time I haven't had to make my own lunch!!")

 And a rainbow breakfast.

Luckily, we got ready for school in time for a St. Patty's Day photo shoot.  It went how all of our photo shoots go, completely ridiculous...

But they were laughing and I was laughing and I can't help but look at this picture and think that today is my lucky day!

Mama's Girl

In a perfect storm of a doctor appointment (for me) and a fever that was better but not good enough to go to school (for my sweet girl) Abby and I had an unexpected day off together on Friday.  So what did we do?

We made a list

Put our girl T. Swift on Pandora

Flung the doors open to let the sun in
And did one of our favorite things.

We cleaned the house.

By the time I got home from my appointment, Abby was chomping at the bit to get started cleaning.  And for 6 hours (seriously, this girl is a rock star) we got our house ready for spring.

From the windows to the walls (insert inappropriate Lil John lyrics here) we cleaned this place until it  sparkled in the sun.

And my little helper couldn't have worked harder.  She dusted...

And washed windows...
 And cleaned the shower...

 And folded laundry...

And all day long, she looked at me with her big toothless smile and told me what a perfect day it was.  Only my kid.  And I couldn't love her more!
