Baseball, Beaches, Backyard, Books and Boards

The past two weeks have been B-U-S-Y.  For us, spring is the time where we run around in seventy seven different directions.  The longer days (which I LOVE!) let us feel like we can squeeze more in and with the end of the school year, there are always more things for us to do and get done.  Here is a peek at what we have been up to

BASEBALL:
Ben ended his baseball season with a great game on a sunny day, followed by dinner and a trophy!

BEACHES:

We spent last Saturday at a beach out on the Peninsula with my parents.  As you can see, Ben was happy to be there.

So was Abby.  She's really into headbands these days.

They spent most of the two hours we were there collecting crabs.

Don't worry, we let them all go before we came home.  It took some convincing but they finally agreed that we probably weren't in the position to take on any more pets.

BACKYARD:

The next day, I spent the best two bucks I have spent in a long time.  The kids washed both my car and my mom's.  All by themselves.  It wasn't so much that the cars needed washing as it was that for just $2 I bought myself a quiet 47 minutes.

After that, we spruced up the yard by cleaning it up and planting some pretty new flowers!

Then we did some reading and eating outside

And even had time to get the pool set up!

BOOKS:

You know how some little kids love Disney princesses?  That's how we feel about Junie B. Jones.  If you don't know who she is you must get to the library and check her out immediately.  You will thank me later.  We have been reading and listening to Junie B. for the past three years.  We have read all 43 books many, many times.  We know all of the words.  To all of the books.  So imagine our delight when we found out that she may be coming to a town near us!

We headed up to Seattle, and she did not disappoint!

We got to see her bus...

 and buy some new books...

and we got to see the REAL Junie B!!!!!!!!  And I'm telling you, people, she was a hoot!  Just how you would expect her to be!

Abby was stunned

 and Ben was entertained.

(And apparently all of the talks we have had about keeping your fingers out of your mouth are paying off).

We laughed,

we got our new books stamped,

and we got to meet THE Junie B.

  Life is complete.

BOARDS:

Saturday was our first lake trip of the season.  The sun was out and the cousins were there.

Abby rode her new dolphin (while wearing a headband, of course)

And Ben couldn't wait to get paddle boarding.

He got to go kayaking with Grandma

and she read on the dock with Mama.

 There was swimming

and splashing

And we are all ready for more days of that.

Some of us (me!) have 10 days of school left and some of us (my poor, poor babies) have 14.  But all of us are ready for school to be done and for the long, carefree, do whatever we want, play in the sun, sleep in (okay, that one is just me) days of summer to grace us with their presence.  Stay tuned for that!
