Spoiled

I am so lucky!  Yesterday, after spending my birthday at the three-ring circus (aka a class full of kindergartners making pancakes on the day of a full moon) I came home to a surprise party thrown by my own little clowns.

As I drove in, Steve had a birthday greeting for me...

the house was decorated

and even though I walked into a quiet house I soon heard giggling and "SURPRISE!!!!"

As soon as I got birthday hugs, it was time to do the cake walk.

Yep.  My party had a cake walk.  Abby put Taylor Swift (obvi) on Pandora and off we went.  And although the winners never did actually get a cake, I had this awesome cake waiting on the counter:

We had to wait for cake and presents until Daddy got home from work but the kids found every last candle in the house to make sure that our dinner of leftovers had the proper mood lighting.

By the time Robbie drove up, they were pretty anxious to get onto the good stuff.

I loved my presents which were all things off the list they requested I write (a big change from last year when Ben got me a puzzle "so you can watch me put it together").  And the cake was delish.  But the best part was how much thought and time my sweet babies put into making sure that I had a great birthday.

Seriously?

Robbie just bought Abby a pair of roller skates...

You know...because walking without wheels on her feet was going so well for her.

It's Officially Fall

As much as I would like for it to still be summer, I have come to terms with the fact that fall is here to stay.  Here is the proof from our weekend that it is officially October:

Abby and I spent yesterday morning working on her Halloween costume.  This summer she told me she wanted to be a clown and I had the best plan for a cute and colorful clown tutu.  Recently, she burst my bubble and insisted that she needed to be a witch.  Ugh.  That's no fun.  Until I decided that she could have a cute and colorful witch tutu...

Once she put it on she said, "It's really poofy."  I said, "that's what makes it cute."  She didn't skip a beat when she said, "Actually, I'm what makes it cute."   I have to admit that I agree with her but heaven help me when this kid is a teenager!
 Happy momma and happy girl!!

Ben is going to be a ninja.  Which is perfect since he asked Santa for ninja costumes last year.

Once the costumes were taken care of, we got some wood stacked on the porch since fires are now a daily occurrence around here.

And then it was outside to build Steve, our scarecrow.  And to have a hay fight of course. Because that's the most fun part of building the scarecrow.

And then we got down to business...

Hard to tell which one is scariest....

Today, the sun was shining and we headed out to the pumpkin patch with our favorite three year old!

Robbie had to work but asked us to get him a tall skinny pumpkin.  Abby said, "Let's trick him and get him a gourd"...

There were lots of new babies at the farm and now we think we need a kitten...and a pig.  And maybe a cow.

As much as I don't love fall, I do love all of the October traditions that we have.  For this weekend, fall really was pretty great!
